Evaluate Your Life Day was created by the people at Wellcat.com (http://www.wellcat.com/fall.htm), to underscore the importance of self-evaluation. This is a day to take a step out of the mainstream of life and think about what you want.
The first step, as always, will be the hardest: Stop. Take a moment, it doesn’t have to be long, but stop doing what you’re doing. Stop thinking what you’re thinking –- just breath and be.
Now that you’ve eliminated distractions and cleared your mind, ask yourself these questions:
- What matters to you?
- Who do you care about?
- What are you doing now with your life?
- What will it lead to?
- Is this what you want?
- Are you happy now?
- Do you think you could be happy in the future with things as they stand now?
- What do you want to do?
Think about how you answered each question. Assess those things which bring you joy, and the worries that weigh you down. For the latter, dig deep and think through why some of these things sit heavy with you.
Now write all of this down and try to find a way to alleviate some of the concerns you have. Maybe begin developing a plan.
Last, do something for you. Do something you enjoy. This could mean a spa day or a game of golf with your friends, or simply a lunch with loved ones you haven’t seen in a while.
